Rosenfeld returns with "Romeo and Juliet"
Rosenfeld's first release since Blood & Porcelain. Slowly recovering, he marked it with a private listening session for a small group of long-time listeners.
Paris — 10 October 2025. Rosenfeld is back, with Romeo and Juliet — his first release since Blood & Porcelain in February 2024, and the song he said in March he was writing.
Slowly better
The health situation that took him away from releasing and performing has improved. Slowly, and not completely — but enough. Enough to finish a record, enough to sit in a room with people again, and enough to say that the work has a future rather than a pause.
Anyone who has come back from a long illness will recognise the shape of it. Progress arrives in weeks that look identical from the outside and feel entirely different from the inside.
A room, not a rollout
Rather than a campaign, Romeo and Juliet was marked with a private listening session for a small group of long-time listeners — no press, no cameras, no announcement beforehand. The record was played, start to finish, in a room, to people who had waited more than eighteen months for it.
It was the right size for what the song is. Rosenfeld wrote, produced, mixed and mastered it alone, as he does, and it carries the marks of having been made slowly: the sound design is unusually close, the arrangement patient, the vocal placed forward and almost unaccompanied in places.
Back in public
Romeo and Juliet is the return to public view. Not a comeback campaign, not a reintroduction — simply the next Rosenfeld record, arriving after the longest gap of his career and sounding like someone who used the time.
