Weeks after a sold-out Alhambra and the release of Blood & Porcelain, Rosenfeld is stepping back from releasing and performing for health reasons.
PARIS, 31 March 2024 — Rosenfeld is stepping back from releasing and performing, for health reasons.
It comes at the steepest point of an upward curve. Seven weeks ago he released Blood & Porcelain, an eleven-track album he wrote and produced himself, and the most complete statement of a sound he has been refining since 2018: dark pop built on detailed sound design, heavy synth bass, and a voice that sits close and unhurried in the mix.
The Alhambra
Four weeks ago, on 2 March, he sold out the Alhambra in Paris, his first headline show at the venue, on a night built around the album. The set moved across the catalogue, from Gimme Love and Dangerous Woman through the new record, and closed on an encore of Do It For Me, the 2018 single that first carried his name outside France. Myla opened the night: two artists from the same small Paris label on one sold-out stage.
An artist at full stretch
Do It For Me and Like U were both produced, mixed and released through the independent label he built himself, without a major behind them at the outset. Rosenfeld is a producer as much as a performer: he tracks, mixes and masters his own records, directs and edits his own videos, and produces Myla's records. Blood & Porcelain was the point where all of it landed in one place.
What happens now
Nothing about this is a retirement, and nothing about it is a decision about the music. It is a health matter and it is being treated as one. The songs that were coming are still coming.
WLTD Entertainment continues to operate as a label and publisher. It continues to release Myla's music and to look after a catalogue that keeps finding new listeners.
